OUR STORY

Waterloo Quay Properties is a property investment, development and leasing company, that has been changing the Aberdeen harbour landscape since the year 2000.

 

Specialising in developing and refurbishing a selection of stunning, fully serviced and high-quality office facilities, the company has remained sympathetic to the original Aberdeen architecture, whilst introducing a modern twist. 

 

The estate comprises of ten bespoke office buildings, which can cater for small or new start businesses, up to large corporate HQ's, offering both short and long-term leases.

 

From previously being a tenant of Ocean Spirit House, and currently still now operating on-site, we know first hand what it takes to give good service and business support.

 

OUR TIMELINE

A brief overview of our journey throughout the years, from being a tenant, to becoming a landlord of the very same development

1993

In November 1993, the founder directors of Seletar Shipping Ltd expanded their ships agency business into Aberdeen, renting an office on Church Street and a warehouse on Waterloo Quay, both from Seaforth Maritime Ltd.

2000

In November 2000, these same shareholders acquired the feuhold interests of 87 Waterloo Quay, and associated warehousing off the then owners. These buildings were owner occupied by the shipping company, following an extensive refurbishment during the summer of 2001.

2003

In September 2003, the neighbouring block of properties was acquired from Highcross Ltd. All of these were tenanted, investment properties.

2005

During the summer of 2005, an extensive refurbishment of Voyager House - coincidentally the original Seletar Shipping warehouse from twelve years prior - was undertaken, creating our first Grade A, fully DDA compliant office development.

2006

In November 2006, the western section of Waterloo Quay was acquired from PPI Ltd - reuniting the entire Waterloo Quay complex for the first time since ownership, by Seaforth Maritime Ltd.

2007

Extensive refurbishment projects followed on Ocean Spirit House, Nautilus House, Pioneer House, Navigator House and The Courtyard, all of which were rapidly filled by an array of new and existing tenants.

2008

In December 2008, Waterloo Quay Properties Ltd was formed following the demerging of Seletar Shipping (Scotland) Ltd, and has continued to trade as a stand-alone property company, to this day.

2012

More recent developments have included the total refurbishment of Provender House, along with the final Courtyard Suite, and the introduction of the Caboose on-site restaurant.

2014

In 2014, Waterloo Quay Properties entered into a joint venture arrangement with Cromdale Ltd, in order to develop a multi-storey car park, and a grade 'A' office development, Horizons House.

2015

The highly-appointed Horizons House new-build development was completed in December 2015, bringing c. 60,000 sq.ft. of BREEAM 'very good' office accommodation to the market, along with a multi-storey car park, home over two-hundred spaces.

2016

The upgrade project from the land behind Merchants House will shortly be underway, in order to create an additional thirty-four car park spaces, bicycle shelters and bin stores.

With electric and hybrid vehicle ownership on the rise, EV charging stations are being installed in our new multi-storey car park. For those healthy people who choose to get to work via pedal power, there are ample covered and secure cycle racks, to keep your bike safe while you are working. We have showers and changing rooms on-site as well as secure locker storage.
Motion Activated LED Lighting

Motion Activated LED Lighting

If it's not already, our lighting throughout the site is being replaced with newer, more energy efficient substitutes, including those with motion sensors and LED fittings. These help us to keep electricity costs as low as possible and ensure we don’t waste any unnecessary power.

We are always looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint, and make our Waterloo Quay community more energy efficient - both for the planet's sake and to reduce overheads for our tenants. Our solar panel farm on the roof of Horizons House, contributes energy saving potential to the building that it sits upon.

Building Specification

Our most recent development was built with energy efficiency in mind and incorporates renewable energy systems with high-performance insulation. It also comes with a 'very good' BREEAM rating. We strive to implement energy efficiencies with all development projects.
